A diluent, also called a filler, is an excipient added to increase the bulk of a formulation when the quantity of active ingredient alone is insufficient for convenient manufacturing or administration.
Diluent বা filler হলো এমন একটি excipient, যা API-এর পরিমাণ কম হলে formulation-এর bulk বাড়াতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এর ফলে tablet বা capsule-এর উপযুক্ত size তৈরি করা সহজ হয়। উদাহরণ: Lactose, microcrystalline cellulose এবং dibasic calcium phosphate।
