Freeze drying is a drying process in which a frozen product is dried mainly by sublimation of ice under reduced pressure, followed by removal of remaining bound moisture as required.
Freeze Drying বা Lyophilization-এ product প্রথমে frozen করা হয়। এরপর reduced pressure-এ ice-কে সরাসরি solid থেকে vapour-এ রূপান্তরিত করে অপসারণ করা হয়। প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী পরবর্তী ধাপে অবশিষ্ট moisture-ও সরানো হয়। এই পদ্ধতি অনেক heat-sensitive pharmaceutical products, বিশেষ করে কিছু biological products, সংরক্ষণে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
